Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tbsp. grated peeled ginger
  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced, divided
  • 1 tbsp. plus â…“ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce, divided
  • 2 tsp. toasted sesame oil, divided
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 13 green cabbage leaves
  • 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 c. water

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, grated ginger, cilantro, sliced scallion, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix in the beaten egg until just combined.
  2. Boil cabbage leaves for about one minute until tender; drain on paper towels.
  3. Cut each leaf in half lengthwise and remove the core. Place about one tablespoon of filling at one end and roll tightly while tucking in the sides.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry dumplings seam side down until golden brown (about two minutes).
  5. Add water to the skillet, cover, and steam for approximately ten minutes until fully cooked.
  6. Serve with a dipping sauce made from remaining scallions and soy sauce mixed with sesame oil.
