Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tbsp. grated peeled ginger
- 2 scallions, thinly sliced, divided
- 1 tbsp. plus â…“ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce, divided
- 2 tsp. toasted sesame oil, divided
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 13 green cabbage leaves
- 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 c. water
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, grated ginger, cilantro, sliced scallion, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix in the beaten egg until just combined.
- Boil cabbage leaves for about one minute until tender; drain on paper towels.
- Cut each leaf in half lengthwise and remove the core. Place about one tablespoon of filling at one end and roll tightly while tucking in the sides.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry dumplings seam side down until golden brown (about two minutes).
- Add water to the skillet, cover, and steam for approximately ten minutes until fully cooked.
- Serve with a dipping sauce made from remaining scallions and soy sauce mixed with sesame oil.
