  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (10.25 ounces) condensed tomato soup
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked long-grain white rice
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Boil water in a large pot; add whole head of cabbage and cook for about 5 minutes. Remove and let cool before peeling off individual leaves.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, diced onion, minced garlic, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper. Add the egg and mix well.
  4. Take a cabbage leaf; place about two tablespoons of filling at its base. Fold in the sides and roll tightly. Place seam-side down in the baking dish.
  5. Pour tomato sauce over the rolls. Cover with foil and bake for about an hour; remove foil during the last 15 minutes.
  6. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving hot.
