Ingredients
- 350g dried short pasta (such as small shells)
- 2 large heads of broccoli
- 1 cup shredded cheese (your choice)
- 2 tsp lemon zest
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 tsp mixed dried herbs
- Red pepper flakes (to taste)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- 1. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook the pasta until al dente.
- 2. Chop broccoli into small florets and add them to the pot during the last few minutes of pasta cooking.
- 3. In a jar, mix lemon zest, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, herbs, red pepper flakes, sugar, salt, and pepper. Shake well.
- 4. Reserve some pasta water before draining the pasta and broccoli.
- 5. Combine drained pasta with the sauce and cheese in the pot. Stir well, adding reserved pasta water as needed for creaminess.
- 6. Serve immediately, garnished with extra cheese if desired.
