Ingredients
- 2 boneless New York Strip Steaks (1” thick)
- 2 tablespoons homemade steak seasoning
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil
- 2 tablespoons butter (or garlic herb butter)
- 1 tablespoon fruit juice or vinegar
Instructions
- Season both sides of the steaks with homemade steak seasoning and let them sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
- Heat the cast iron skillet over medium-high heat for 2 minutes until very hot. Add avocado oil and check readiness by dropping water into it—if it sizzles, it's ready.
- Carefully place the steaks into the skillet using tongs, searing each side for about 2 minutes until golden brown.
- Reduce heat to medium and cook each side for an additional 6 minutes or until reaching desired doneness.
- Pour fruit juice or vinegar over the steaks and add butter on top to melt.
- Remove from skillet and let rest loosely covered with foil for 5-10 minutes before serving.
