Ingredients

  • 1 package Hawaiian rolls (12 rolls)
  • 24 slices thinly sliced chicken
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 12 dill pickles (thinly sliced)
  • For the Butter Sauce: 6 tbsp butter
  • 1 ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp pepper sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsps poppy seeds
  • yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a small bowl; mix in cumin, pepper sauce, salt, garlic powder, and poppy seeds. Reserve a third for later.
  2. Slice Hawaiian rolls in half and spread yellow mustard on both sides of the bottom halves. Place them in a greased baking dish.
  3. Layer each bottom bun with half a slice of cheddar cheese, two pieces of chicken slices, pickles, and Swiss cheese. Top with the bun halves.
  4. Brush remaining butter sauce over the tops and cover with aluminum foil. Chill for at least four hours or overnight for best results.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake covered for about 30 minutes; then uncover and bake an additional five minutes until golden brown.
