- 4 lbs beef shoulder butt roast
- â…“ cup liquid smoke
- 18 ounces BBQ Sauce
- ½ cup water (for Instant Pot version)
- 12 Hamburger Buns
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dry mustard.
- Rub the seasoning mix all over the beef roast until evenly coated.
- For Instant Pot: Place seasoned beef in the pot; add liquid smoke and water; pour BBQ sauce on top. For Slow Cooker: Place seasoned beef in the cooker; add liquid smoke and top with BBQ sauce.
- For Instant Pot: Seal the lid and cook on high pressure for about 60 minutes; allow natural release. For Slow Cooker: Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours or until the beef is tender.
- Once cooked, shred the beef using forks and mix with juices in the pot.
- Serve generous portions of shredded beef on hamburger buns.
